Read MoreHide Full Article

Key Takeaways

  • Intel reports improved AI inference performance in MLPerf v6.0 using Xeon 6 CPUs and Arc Pro GPUs.
  • INTC's Arc Pro B70 delivers up to 1.8x better performance than B60 and scales efficiently across setups.
  • INTC combines CPUs and GPUs to optimize AI workloads without extra accelerators, enhancing efficiency.

Intel Corporation (INTC - Free Report) has improved artificial intelligence (AI) inference performance with its latest MLPerf Inference v6.0 results, highlighting the power of Intel Xeon 6 CPUs combined with Intel Arc Pro B-Series GPUs. The results reveal that Intel’s GPU systems can perform AI tasks quickly and efficiently across workstations, data centers and edge environments.

Intel offers a system with four Arc Pro B70/B65 GPUs that provides 128GB of VRAM, allowing it to run very large AI models efficiently. The Arc Pro B70 performs up to 1.8 times better than the older Arc Pro B60 version. Its optimized software makes it easy to scale from single-node to multi-GPU setups, improving performance by up to 18% compared to previous MLPerfv5.1 tests on the same hardware.

The Arc Pro B-Series GPUs are designed for modern AI tasks and offer reliable features like error correction, monitoring and remote updates. Multi-GPU setups offer significantly larger KV cache capacity for large models and extended context windows, making Intel’s systems more efficient for both AI language models and traditional machine learning tasks. KV cache is an optimization process used in AI models to make text generation faster and more efficient.

Intel also focuses on balancing CPU and GPU performance. Its Xeon 6 CPUs play an important role in managing memory, tasks and workloads while supporting AI features such as AMX and AVX512. This enables AI tasks, including large language model inference and traditional machine learning, to run smoothly without dedicated accelerators in certain workloads.

As demand for AI inference grows, Intel is providing a complete solution that combines robust hardware, optimized software and scalability, giving graphics professionals and AI developers powerful, cost-effective and secure tools to meet the evolving needs of AI-driven applications.

How Are Competitors Performing in the AI Space?

Intel faces competition from Qualcomm Incorporated (QCOM - Free Report) and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD - Free Report) . Qualcomm is focusing on efficient AI that runs directly on devices like phones, wearables and cars. It is launching new chips, such as Snapdragon Wear Elite, to bring strong AI features to wearables. The company is also partnering with Wayve to develop AI-powered automotive solutions, aiming to enable smarter vehicles with more advanced driving capabilities.

AMD is improving its AI software to make it easier for developers to build and run AI applications. It has launched new chips, the Ryzen AI 400 series, that can run AI tasks directly on PCs and workstations. AMD partnered with Meta Platforms, Inc. (META - Free Report) to build large AI systems and expand its presence in the AI market.
